Hijab in Hinduism and Christianity, in the light of sacred scriptures.

Hijab in Hinduism and Christianity, in the light of sacred scriptures.

Often the concept of Hijab is misrepresented and misunderstood by a large number of people. It is believed that the commandment of Hijab is found only in the Islamic Scriptures. But, if we flip the pages of the sacred books of major religions, we find the commandment of Hijab is found there too. Fortunately this commandment is yet alive in Muslims and unfortunately the commandment of other scriptures is not known to the general public.
Due to the lack of knowledge and self ego, many supported Hijab ban failing to realize that they are supporting the cause which is against Mother Mary, Mata Sita and various others. They give respect to these ladies but unfortunately when it comes to accepting their way their foot start shivering, ego comes in between, and hate overtakes.
To remove the misunderstanding about the concept of Hijab, I will be giving few verses from various scriptures which will testify that hijab does not degrade women but uplift. It is the sign of modesty.

HIJAB (VEIL) IN HINDU SCRIPTURES

“When Brahma has made you a woman, you should lower your gaze and should not look up. Youshould put your feet together and you should not reveal what the garment and the veil conceals.”
[Rig Veda Book no. 8 Hymn no. 33V. no. 19]
So the Rig Veda says that the woman should wear the veil. They should lower their gaze andshould not stare.
“Unlovely is the person is the husband who covers his thighs with the garment of his wife. “
[Rig Veda Book no. 10 Hymn no. 85 V. no.30“]
So the Rig Veda says that wearing the clothes of the opposite sex is prohibited.
“When Purshuram comes, Rama tells his wife Sita that “He is our elder, please lower your gaze, and put on the veil.
[Mahavir Charitra Act 2 Page 71]
Rama tells his wife Sita to put on the veil and to lower her gaze.
If you read historical books, the books talking about the Coin Age, the Age of the Gupta and the post Gupta age, there are coins , on which there are pictures of the Indian woman wearing the veils and the veil aregoing up to their shoulders, some go up to the arms. There are many Indian women in the villages who wear the veils; some of the women even cover their faces. So if you analyze, even the Hindu Scriptures say that a woman should wear the veil. That the woman should lower their gaze. It is a pity that Raja Ram Mohan Roy might not have read those verses. God willing, if Raja Ram Mohan Roy would have read those verses, even he would have told that a woman should wear the veil.

HIJAB (VEIL) IN BIBLE

"If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head"
[Bible 1 Corrinthians 11:3-6]
If you see a Christian nun she is totally covered .You know why because they follow the Bible.
For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be ashame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
[ Corinthians 11, Verse 6]
Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man has long hair, it is a shame unto him?
But if a woman has long hair, it isa glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
[Corinthians 11, Verses 14 and 15]

Common misconception is that Muslim women are the only ones who cover their hair. It may be true that Islam is the only religion in which most women follow its directives to cover the hair, but it is not the only religionto have such directives.
