Was Prophet Muhammad SalAllho Alaihe Wasallam really a pedophile?
There is no denying the fact that Prophet Muhammad salallho alaihe wasallam is the most cultured and well-behaved mortal who ever walked on the face of this earth. His words, knowledge and personality are incomparable to anyone. His kindness, love and affection guided humanity from the darkest valleys of ignorance and into the light of satisfaction and truthfulness. Although he was not educated from any school or any scholarly institution, still he was popular for his honesty and kindness that earned him the titles “Sadiq” and “Ameen”.
But critics portrait some Islamic principles and actions of the Prophet Muhammad (Sal Allahu Alaihe Wasallam) in such a way that one may think that he was the biggest antisocial element who ever breathed in the soils of Arabia. These critics left no stone unturned to portrait Prophet Muhammad (Sal Allahu Alaihe Wasallam) as terrorist, criminal or worst of all a “PEDOPHILE”(Nauzubillah)
These critics highlight prophet Muhammad (Sal Allahu Alaihe Wasallam) as “Pedophile” because he married a nine old girl Ayesha (Radi Allahu Anha).
Now lets analyze the accusation of islam haters,let us know what is pedophelia or pedophile?
Definition of a Pedophile:
"Pedophile: also spelled PEDOPHILIA,psyc hosexual disorder in which an adult's arousal and sexual gratification occur primarily through sexual contact with prepubescent children. The typical pedophile is unable to find satisfaction in an adult sexual relationship and may have low self-esteem, seeing sexual activity with a child as less threatening than that with an adult." [Encyclopedia Britannica, 1998.]
Pedophilia is a personality disorder in which a person is sexually attracted to children both male and female. Pedophiles can be homosexual and heterosexual but the heterosexual pedophiles are more than homosexual pedophiles i.e. 11:1. Pedophiles like to be surrounded by children all the time.
Does the Prophet fit the above criteria of a pedophile?
No,absolutely not.
With the above criteria of a pedophile in mind, lets analyze the lifestyle of the prophet and his marriages.

Statistics from the above table:
Percentage of his wives who were 17years and older = 91 %
Percentage of his wives who were widows = 75% .
The statistics show that the prophet’s marriage to Aisha at her young age was an exception and not a norm of his other marriages. Further more a pedophile’s main mode of sexual satisfaction is with pre pubescent girls’ , which is contradictory to the 91% of prophet’s marriage to women 17 years and over.All his brides were aged widows (except Aisha and Marium).
if it was really a pedophilic urge why didn’t he choose Ayesha (Radi Allahu Anha)? as he waited for almost 3 years so that she may mature completely for the consummation to take place which is impossible hard for a pedophile to wait as wants to do molest a child quickly and also if it was really a pedophilic dream he could have chosen some other small girl of Arabia other than Ayesha so that he may not have to wait for 3 years as pedophiles normally do they don’t want to wait for it. Also it is very strange that all pedophiles molest a child they don’t ‘marry’ the child.
Was Ayesha (Radi Allahu Anha) really a child?
Ayesha herself said , “ When a girl reaches nine year of age, She is a woman .[ Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Kitab al-Nikah,Hadith 1109 ]” But this is cannot be taken as a general rule and every nine year old girl cannot be married to anyone , Shariah has its rule which are formed under the light of both Quran and hadith.
Islamic Law regarding age of marriage :
In Islam there is no fixed age of marriage, whenever a person reaches the age of puberty he or she is fit for marriage. Nikah, the marital contract , may be made earlier but consummation of marriage can take place only after puberty is attained.
The reason I narrated this is because I want to made it crystal clear to the critics that Ayesha(Radi Allahu Anha) was completely a ‘mature girl’ and also the age of puberty varies with the region and it was an accepted norm in Arabia for a mature man to marry a young girl and not only in Arabia but in Christian Europe also.
he married a 40 year old ‘adult’ and respectable widow ‘Khadija (Radi Allahu Anha) which is impossible for pedophiles to do as they do not want to engage themselves in any relationship. Dr. Estela V Weldon says, “ Pedophiles target primarily children under age, male and female, and they are not engaged in adult relationship .”
An unbiased examination of Prophet’s life and his marriages to his wives blatantly rejects the notion of his lifestyle fitting that of a pedophile.
After reading the above facts,it is crystal clear that to say that prophet Muhammad (Sal Allahu Alaihe Wasallam) was a pedophile is a biggest lie.
We muslims invite all sincere humans to study the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon Him) int he light of the authentic sources of the Quran and the Sunnah (exemplary sayings and deeds of the Prophet) and judge for themselves where the truth lies. Indeed, by recognizing thet ruth of Islam as the final and complete Guidance sent by our Creator can humanity find lasting peace in this world and a means of salvation from the hell fire in the hereafter.
